It’s a little late in the day to be getting to this, but it’s worth mentioning that Alter Bridge released a new track today, titled “Show Me A Leader” off their forthcoming album “The Last Hero”. The track was released exclusively through SiriusXM channel Octane this afternoon, and can be heard here. Alter Bridge hit the scene 12 years ago, when the guys from Creed essentially gave Scott Stapp the boot, brought in Myles Kennedy and starting making much heavier music. Their debut album, One Day Remains has been certified gold, and the band have since released 3 studio albums, including my personal favorite, Fortress. I’ll admit that it took me a long time to start liking Alter Bridge, growing up with Creed in late 90’s and early 2000’s, hearing the guys from Creed play with a different vocalist never felt right. Then Myles Kennedy hooked up with Slash and I realized the boy could sing the hell out of just about anything.
Now, though, Alter Bridge are taking part in one of the summer’s biggest tours with Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin and Saint Asonia, and they’re one of the most popular bands around. Show Me A Leader is just another solid song in the band’s decade-plus history, and there’s no question Mark Tremonti, Myles Kennedy and company are a kick ass rock band. I’m excited to see them live this Saturday, and of course, we’ll have coverage of the show. In the meantime, click the link above to listen to the band’s new track. Here’s what Kennedy had to say about it
“Show Me a Leader is a reflection of how polarized and fractured things are in our society, This song doesn’t push an agenda, it simply expresses a very common sense of disillusionment people seem to be feeling at this point in time.”
Yep, here’s hoping they play it live this weekend. “The Last Hero” is set to be released on October 7th.
