Foo Fighters Announce New Album + Tour

Soundboard Magazine turned one year old today, and what better way to celebrate our first birthday than with HUGE NEWS out of the Foo Fighters camp!? As if the new single wasn’t enough, the band today confirmed the obvious: they’ll be releasing a new album on 9/15 – which is my birthday!!!!

The new album is titled Concrete and Gold and will feature 11 tracks including the band’s new teaser single, titled RunConcrete and Gold follows the Foo Fighters’ 2014 album Sonic Highways and their 2015 follow-up EP Saint Cecilia. The band recorded the new album at Hollywood’s EastWest Studios with contemporary pop stalwart Greg Kurstin, who has worked with Adele, Sia, Pink and more. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl said he became a fan of Kurstin through his indie pop duo, the Bird and the Bee, and thought his pop pedigree would create an interesting challenge for the Foo Fighters.

Said Grohl about the pairing, “So I think maybe Greg is the guy that we ask to be our producer because he’s never made a heavy rock record before and we’ve never worked with a pop producer.” Grohl described the combination of their styles as, “Our noise and Greg’s big brain and all of his sophisticated arrangements and composition.”

Concrete and Gold is available to pre-order digitally and on CD and vinyl. A variety of merchandise bundles – some of which include Foo Fighters socks and a Russian nesting doll set – are available via the band’s website.

Check out the track list and tour dates below. It’s worth mentioning that there isn’t a single goddam Northeast date in the lot. The closest they come to us here in NYC is Virginia, but we’d totally make that trip for Foo Fighters, so we’ll see. We’ll definitely look to review the album ahead of the release date. We’re on vacation that weekend, oddly enough, so we’ll see what we can do.
