In a not-so-surprise move, Ivan Moody has said in an interview with KBPI Rocks Denver Radio that he’s doing what everyone has known since the Boston Meltdown – and subsequent shitshow the next night in New Jersey, which we covered here – he’s leaving Five Finger Death Punch at the end of the year. Moody left the band almost immediately following the NJ show, due to “illness” and eventually returned after the conclusion of the tour. But now, it appears FFDP’s days may be numbered.
Let’s be real here – Ivan Moody is a headcase and has serious mental issues which need to be addressed by a professional, for the sake of his own well-being. But this move was obvious to anyone paying attention last year. The only question is can Five Finger Death Punch continue as a band without the voice that made them stand out in a heavily saturated metal scene? I don’t claim to be any kind of prognosticator, but I don’t know that Ivan Moody can be replaced.
I’ll leave the rest of the speculation to you guys, but for now it appears FFDP is at a crossroads. I’m sure we’ll have more on this soon, once details become available.
