The end is nigh for one of the big for as heavy metal titans Slayer have announced their final world tour, complete with support from Lamb of God, Behemoth, Testament and fellow members of the big four Anthrax. This announcement surely comes as a shock to Slayer fans despite frontman Tom Araya saying back in 2016 that he was ready to call it quits two years ago. Araya had this to say back then: “After 35 years, it’s time to like, collect my pension…I like singing and just spitting that s—t out and convincing everybody that this guy is a f—ing maniac. It’s like acting. You feel the lyrics and you show them with your facial expressions, your body expressions, your intensity — I love that s—t.” (h/t Loudwire)
Slayer made the announcement via Youtube video earlier today, which you can check out here:
Tour dates have yet to be announced, but it’s rumored to be a summer trek for those of us in North America, which likely means amphitheater dates, so Jones Beach for the NYC-area faithful, maybe? Regardless of when they come around, we’ll make an effort to be there as Slayer embarks on one last trip around the sun.
